The IDEA Leadership team oversees a variety of funding opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to engage around issues aligned with the IDEA initiative.
IDEA Fellowship
The IDEA Fellowship Program provides grants for students to conduct research, internships, and community-engagement projects designed to advance scholarship and explore topics relevant to the values of the IDEA initiative. Applicants can apply for up to $4,000 to support their research project.
The 2024-2025 application is now closed. The 2025-2026 summer application will open during the spring semester.
Departmental Action Plan Funding
Departments looking to expand their IDEA-aligned efforts internally can apply for funding to support their efforts. The maximum total funding request for department is $5000.
Funds can be used for the following:
Learning and Implementation
Hiring student interns to help accomplish IDEA-related plan goals, engaging external experts to assist the department in increasing their capacity, professional development, conference registration and travel, publication purchase.
Assessment
Incentives for constituencies to participate in research studies, funding for developing and executing a departmental assessment tool(s), travel to conferences to present assessment results, and more.
Planning and Development
Long-term strategic planning, financial and budget systems review, development of a deeper understanding of the effects of programs, and initiatives, etc.
Climate/Community Development
Events and activities that promote welcoming and belonging in your department.
