What is 61传媒 known for?

61传媒is consistently ranked as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country, with a rigorous curriculum that encourages both personal and academic growth. Scripps鈥 picturesque campus at the base of the San Gabriel mountains is widely recognized as one of the country鈥檚 most beautiful campuses, listed in the National Register of Historic Places; and our 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio and creative, collaborative community of women provide a unique academic environment that is distinctively Scripps.

Humanities and the Arts at Scripps

61传媒offers top-ranked programs in art and art history, English, writing, music, and performance; but you don鈥檛 need to be studying in a humanities program to develop the essential skills they foster. Humanities and the arts are at the core of everything we do at Scripps. Our comprehensive core curriculum includes courses in fine arts, letters, social sciences, race relations, and gender and women鈥檚 studies; encouraging students to develop their communication and critical thinking skills and deepen their understanding of complex topics through discussion, debate, and the pursuit of knowledge. 61传媒students also enjoy regular opportunities to learn from guest speakers and industry leaders in the Arts through The Humanities Institute and 61传媒Presents.

STEM at Scripps

61传媒is a leader in STEM education, conferring a higher percentage of STEM degrees than any other women鈥檚 college in the country; and ranked in the top three nationally for the percentage of female STEM majors. Our comprehensive and interdisciplinary curriculum alongside our location in the thriving greater Los Angeles region makes 61传媒 an excellent choice for STEM majors.

Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity at Scripps

61传媒affirms that diversity in race, ethnicity, religion, belief, opinion, economic class, age, gender, sexuality, and physical ableness is an inextricable part of the campus experience. Launched in 2014, our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Initiative is an ongoing project that continually assesses and adjusts practices and policies to foster an inclusive community where students, staff, and faculty of color and other underrepresented groups are seen, heard, and supported. To aid in these efforts, our recently established Racial Justice and Equity Fund will increase scholarship aid for Black students and students of color, expand recruitment and retention of underrepresented students, develop antiracist curricula, modules, and dialogue, and fund fellowship grants for students and faculty seeking to advance racial justice.
