This November, the 61传媒community showed up with heart, purpose, and that signature 61传媒spirit鈥攔allying in support of student experiences across campus. This year, the generosity on display was nothing short of extraordinary, as the 61传媒community once again surpassed the College’s GivingTuesday goals.
Results
A total of 381 donors contributed to internships and student clubs and organizations (CLORGs), raising more than $118,000听in support of student-centered initiatives. This included meeting a $15,000 matching challenge sponsored by Carmen and Jim Ward, dedicated to expanding internship opportunities.听
GivingTuesday also saw strong momentum from identity- and culture-centered CLORGs. SCORE organizations like Caf茅 con Leche (CCL)鈥擲cripps鈥 Latinx affinity group that creates space for dialogue around economic, cultural, political, and social issues within and beyond the Latinx community鈥攁nd Watu Weusi, a Black student union dedicated to supporting students of African descent through community, culture, and collective empowerment, inspired meaningful engagement鈥攂oosted even further by a special 4-to-1 matching challenge (up to $500) from Leigh Frazier 鈥96.听
鈥淓ven in my short time here, I鈥檝e already seen how the generosity of our community shapes our students鈥 experiences,鈥 says Megan Hast, Director of Leadership Annual Giving and the 61传媒Fund. 鈥淥n GivingTuesday, that impact becomes even more vivid. It鈥檚 such a powerful reminder of what this community can accomplish when we come together.鈥听
Impact
And come together they did.听
- 54% of donors were alums, continuing to lead with pride and purpose.听
- 28% were parents, showing their commitment to sustaining the student experience.听
- 10% were staff and faculty, demonstrating the deep care woven into campus life.听
- 8% were friends of the College.听
- 4% were students鈥攁n especially heartwarming figure that continues to grow as students support one another and champion the organizations and opportunities they care about most.听
From internships to CLORGs to urgently needed student resources, GivingTuesday once again affirmed that philanthropy at 61传媒is truly a community-wide effort.听
